Presentation 2: Pentair Case Study: BI Insights and Lessons Learned.
Managing a BI Environment consists of challenges and opportunities and while the journey for every business is unique we can all benefit from lessons we all learn along the way. In this presentation Terry McDonald, BI Program Manager, Pentair Technical Products will share Insights and Lessons Learned on our journey to establishing a mission or value proposition, engaging the business to create opportunities, and managing the day to day challenges of a BI environment.
Speaker Bio: Terry McDonald is the BI Program Manager at Pentair’s Technical Products Division (formerly Hoffman Enclosures). Terry has 31 years of Data Management experience including 3 years in application development. He initiated and has been responsible for the development of Business Intelligence solutions within Pentair Technical Products in support of Sales and Marketing, Supply, Operations, Logistics, and Quality for the last 12 years. These solutions provide monitoring and analytical capabilities for key business processes including Strategy Deployment a balanced scorecard business process.
Presentation 3: What’s new with BI in SQL Server 2011 ‘Denali’
During this session we are going to go over all of the new BI features that have been enhanced and added in SQL Server 2011 (code named ‘Denali’). We will look at new features that have been added into Integration Services, Analysis Services, and Reporting Services. Along with this we will talk about and go over the new report authoring tool ‘Crescent’ showing how this tool will provide you the ability to access, explore, and visualize your data in a whole new way and have fun at the same time.
Speaker Bio: Dan English (Senior Business Intelligence Consultant, Superior Consulting Services) is a SQL Server MVP and has been developing with Microsoft technologies for over 14 years and over 7 years with Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence. He has been working with SQL Server since version 6.5 through 2008 R2 and is exploring 'Denali'. Dan has screencasts and videos on Vimeo, is an avid blogger, and tweets. Dan was the Chair of the PASSMN user group the past two years and is now helping with programs at MN Microsoft BI user group
Speaker Bio: Jin Cho (Microsoft Business Intelligence Technology Specialist, Microsoft) evangelizes on Business Intelligence capabilities for suite of Microsoft products. Jin has proven ability to deliver Business intelligence solutions utilizing leading market BI technologies. Prior to becoming a Microsoft employee, Jin spent 11 years at Allina Health System. He managed the Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse team to lead an effort to provide clinical, financial, and operational BI solutions. He was also responsible for implementing reporting and analytic environment for the Epic electronic medical record system. Jin has bachelor degree in Statistics from the University of Minnesota.And Project "Crescent" Demo
