Presentation Topic: Leveraging the Microsoft BI Stack to provide a Digital Marketing Dashboard – Polaris Industries

Polaris Industries is a leading manufacturer of Off-Road Vehicles and Motorcycles. Polaris leverages internet marketing heavily for brand reconsideration leading to improved customer engagement. In order to effectively manage their digital (online) marketing strategy and measure return on marketing investments, Polaris embarked on an initiative to build a BI solution for their Digital Marketing efforts. This initiative is focused on understanding customer behavior, engagement funnel, campaign performance, influence, and conversion to ultimately correlate marketing investment with sales to provide return on marketing investments (ROMI). 

For this initiative, Polaris leveraged the Digital Marketing Dashboard Framework that uses Web Trends, Exact Target and the Microsoft BI Stack (SharePoint, Performance Point services, reporting services, analysis services, integration services). In this presentation you will get to learn about Polaris’ challenges in implementing a board digital marketing solution that integrates data from multiple external web sources and correlating it with internal sales data to provide Return on Marketing investments.

About the speaker

Chris Kuelbs is the Lead Project Manager for the Polaris consumer websites and has 10 years of experience in the Interactive Marketing arena.  Chris has managed several large initiatives that have brought Polaris to and kept them on the leading edge of digital marketing strategy and technology within the Powersports industry.  Chris holds a BS from the University of Minnesota and a Masters of Software Engineering from the University of St. Thomas.

Digital Dashboard Using SharePoint 2010 and SQL R2 capabilities

In this session we will take a look at the latest and upcoming release of the Digital Marketing Dashboard Framework built using SQL Server R2, SharePoint 2010, Performance Point Services, PowerPivot and PivotViewer. The latest releases uses WebTrends, Extact Target, Atlas and Microsoft BI stack to bring powerful visualization capabilities such as Bing maps, Funnel reports, gauge, radar maps. These new visualizations make it easier for users to gather insights into customer behavior, campaign and online media performance, and return on marketing investments.

With his experience in delivering customer-centric marketing strategies and solutions, he has led the creation of the Digital Marketing Dashboard Framework. Jin evangelizes on Business Intelligence capabilities for suite of Microsoft products.  Jin has proven ability to deliver Business intelligence solutions utilizing leading market BI technologies.  Prior to becoming a Microsoft employee, Jin spent 11 years at Allina Health System.  He managed the Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse team to lead an effort to provide clinical, financial, and operational BI solutions.  He was also responsible for implementing reporting and analytic environment for the Epic electronic medical record system.  Jin has bachelor degree in Statistics from the University of Minnesota.
